Jefferson Parish, West Bank points of interest. Visit New Orleans and after you're done partying and eating, time to jump into that rental and take a drive over da' bridges.Cross the Crescent City Connection (those two large bridges) drive to the West Bank and see how the engine (Jefferson Parish) that supported the New Orleans rebuilding, lives. We have little cities (Algiers, Algiers Point, Gretna, TerryTown, Harvey, Marrero, Westwego, Bridge City), a newly reopened Mall (you will see it, near the big, round hotel, coming from the East Bank of the CCC), stores galore on Manhattan Blvd. and the West Bank Expressway (exit Manhattan; stores are Best Buy, Barnes and Noble, PETCO, Sam's, Lowe's, Wal-Mart, Burlington Coat Factory (I doubt you'll need that but they sell clothing), Restaurants, gas and Chevy's Mexican Restaurant for that nooner.

The Audubon Zoo is a beautiful zoo. It feautures animlas from all parts of the world in natural-looking habitats. The Louisiana Swamp Exhibit with the alligators was our favorite, but all of them are great. Zoo includes a reptile house and gorgeous aviary. Food options include McDonald's, Haagen Daaz, and a Cajun Cafe at the swamp exhibit. For children there is a petting zoo, playgrounds, and a carousel. You can even take a river boat ride here from the Aquarium and/or buy one pass to see both at the same time with or without boat ride.

German-American Culture Centre

German-American Culture CentreGermans have played a major role in the development of Louisiana since 1721, when they settled the German Coast, about 36 miles up the Mississippi River from New Orleans. They were contracted by John Law to colonize Louisiana after the Duc d'Orleans, Regent of France, granted Law permission to charter the Company of the West. Throughout the 1800s, New Orleans was a major port of entry for German immigrants, many of whom went to Texas and the mid-west. By 1850, there were more Germans than French in New Orleans.Throughout the 20th century, German immigrants have continued to contribute to Louisiana's Delta region. Interested?
